Scientists found very old ape bones in northern Egypt. The bones are about 18 million years old. For a long time, many scientists thought the first apes on our family line came from East Africa. This find may show the story started farther north, in northeast Africa or Arabia.
The team found the in 2023 and 2024. They are small pieces of lower and some worn Even with so little material, the team said the bones do not match any known ape. They gave the new animal a new name, Masripithecus moghraensis.
